Why visit Yablanitsa?

Yablanitsa is a small town in the westernmost part of Lovech Province, in the Pre-Balkan foothills just north of the Stara Planina (Balkan Mountains), about 70 km from Sofia and close to the Hemus motorway linking the capital with Varna. It became a town in 1968 and serves as the administrative centre of Yablanitsa Municipality, whose nine settlements include Batultsi, Brestnitsa, Dabravata, Dobrevtsi, Golyama Brestnitsa, Malak Izvor, Oreshene, Yablanitsa itself, and Zlatna Panega. As of the last confirmed census (December 2011) the town had a population of about 2,854. Yablanitsa is a locally known centre for confectionery production, particularly halva and lokum (Turkish delight).
