Sepopa
North West, Botswana
Why visit Sepopa?
Sepopa (also spelled Sepupa) is a village in the North-West District of Botswana, in the Okavango Panhandle near where the delta's channels begin, roughly 50 km south of the Namibian border. The population was 1,519 at the 2001 census. It is a small rural settlement on the banks of the Okavango River, engaged in fishing, farming, and livestock rearing, and it sits at a genuine gateway point: a local ferry crosses the Okavango River between Sepopa and Seronga on the delta's far side, and the surrounding area — extending south toward the Swamp Stop river camp — is known among anglers for tigerfish and the seasonal "barbel run."

Ferry crossing to Seronga — a working river crossing rather than a tourist boat trip, but a genuine way to reach the delta's eastern side.
