Why visit Molepolole?
Molepolole is the largest traditional village in Botswana, located about 50 km west of Gaborone in the Kweneng District. It is the capital of the Bakwena people, one of the eight principal Tswana tribes, and has a population of around 75,000. Molepolole has a strong cultural identity centred around the Bakwena kgotla (tribal court) and the chieftaincy. The village is spread over a wide area of hills and valleys, with a mix of traditional homesteads and modern development. It serves as a service centre for the surrounding Kweneng villages and the western Kalahari edge.

By Plane
Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (GBE) in Gaborone is 50 km east. A taxi costs around P250–350.
By Car / Road
Molepolole is on the A2 highway, 50 km west of Gaborone (45 minutes). Minibus taxis run frequently from Gaborone's bus rank.
Molepolole is spread out and best navigated by car or taxi. Minibus taxis serve the main routes within the village.
