Tshane

Tshane is a small village in the Kgalagadi District, located near Hukuntsi in the southern Kalahari region of Botswana. It is a rural community with a population primarily engaged in livestock rearing at surrounding cattle posts. The village lies in a landscape of red sand dunes and acacia savanna that defines this part of the Kalahari. The area is sparsely populated and the village has minimal services, including a small shop and a primary school. The nearest larger settlement is Hukuntsi, about 15 km north.

The nearest airport with charter flight capability is Tsabong, approximately 110 km south.

By Car / Road

Tshane is accessible via unpaved roads branching from the Tsabong–Hukuntsi route. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended due to sandy conditions.

Tshane is a compact village that is walkable. A vehicle is needed to reach the village from the main road network.

Tshane has no organised tourist activities. Wildlife viewing is available at the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, 170 km south-west.
