Kang

Kang is a roadside settlement on the A2 highway in the Kgalagadi District, roughly midway between Gaborone and Tsabong. It is a small community that has grown around the highway junction, with a few lodges, fuel stations, and shops serving travellers crossing the Kalahari. The surrounding landscape is typical Kalahari sandwich — flat, dry, and covered with acacia scrub and red sand.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Tsabong, approximately 200 km south-west. Gaborone's airport is 250 km east.

By Car / Road

Kang is on the A2 highway, 250 km west of Gaborone (3 hours) and 150 km north-east of Tsabong. Buses running between Gaborone and Tsabong stop at Kang.

Kang is a roadside settlement — everything is along the highway and walkable.

• Trans-Kalahari stopover — A convenient break point on the long drive across the Kalahari.

The lodges at Kang have restaurants serving basic meals. Self-catering supplies are limited.

The lodges have bars. Carry bottled water for travel.

A small shop at the Kang lodges sells basic supplies and fuel.

• Gaborone — 250 km east, Botswana's capital.
• Tsabong — 150 km south-west, district capital.
