Tsabong is the administrative capital of the Kgalagadi District in south-western Botswana, located on the A2 highway between Gaborone and the South African border. It is a frontier town serving the surrounding Kgalagadi Desert communities, with a population of around 9,000. Tsabong has basic services including fuel stations, shops, and a hospital, making it an important stopover for travellers heading to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park or crossing into South Africa.

How do you get there?

By Plane

Tsabong has a small airstrip for charter flights. The nearest airport with scheduled services is in Gaborone, 400 km east.

By Car / Road

Tsabong is on the A2 highway, 400 km west of Gaborone (4–5 hours) and 150 km north of the Bokspits border post with South Africa. A 4x4 is recommended for exploring beyond the highway.

Tsabong is a small town that is walkable in the centre. Taxis are available.
