Rechytsa

Homieĺskaja voblasć, Belarus

Why visit Rechytsa?

Rechytsa (Belarusian: Rečyca) is a town of about 65,000 on the high right bank of the Dnieper River, 50 km north-west of Gomel. First chronicled in 1213, Rechytsa has the unusual distinction in Belarus of a continuously inhabited historic riverfront and a centre that preserves 19th-century churches, an Art Nouveau railway station, and the long Sovietskaya pedestrian street.

The city is also a centre of Belarus's modest oil industry — the Pripyatsky basin's wells are managed from here — and has the well-known Rečycapivo brewery, whose lagers are sold across the country. Climate is continental, summers mild and pleasant.
