Homyel

Homieĺskaja voblasć, Belarus

Why visit Homyel?

Homyel (Gomel) is the second-largest city in Belarus and the administrative centre of Homielskaja voblasć. Situated on the Sozh River, Gomel is known for its spectacular palace-and-park ensemble, the Rumyantsev-Paskevich Palace, one of the finest neoclassical estates in Eastern Europe. The city was severely damaged during WWII but retains a pleasant character with wide tree-lined boulevards, the Sozh River embankment, and a slower pace than Minsk. Its industrial base includes engineering, chemical, and food-processing factories.
