Kossovo
Bresckaja voblasć, Belarus
Why visit Kossovo?
Kossovo (also spelled Kossava) is a small town in eastern Bresckaja voblasć, famous as the birthplace of Tadeusz Kościuszko (1746–1817), the Polish, Lithuanian, Belarusian, and American national hero who fought in the American Revolutionary War and led the Kościuszko Uprising in Poland. The town's main attraction is the Puslovsky Palace, a neo-Gothic castle-like residence built in the 19th century by the Puslovsky family. The palace was largely destroyed during WWII and spent decades in ruins, but a major restoration completed in the 2010s has returned it to its former splendour. The park surrounding the palace is an English-style landscape garden with ponds and rare trees.
