Pinsk
Bresckaja voblasć, Belarus
Why visit Pinsk?
Pinsk is the second-largest city in Bresckaja voblasć and one of the most historic cities in Belarus, situated at the confluence of the Pina and Pripet rivers in the heart of the Polesian marshlands. First mentioned in 1097, it was a major centre of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and a key Jewish cultural centre (the birthplace of the Pinsk yeshiva). The city's architectural highlight is its collection of Baroque churches from the 17th–18th centuries, including the Jesuit and Franciscan monasteries. Pinsk's riverside setting is beautiful, with the Pina embankment forming the city's main promenade. The city has a distinctly Central European feel, with narrow streets, market squares, and colourful townhouses.
