Lyakhavichy

Bresckaja voblasć, Belarus

Why visit Lyakhavichy?

Lyakhavichy (also known as Lyakhovichi) is a small town in northern Bresckaja voblasć with a history dating back to the 16th century. It was once the site of a formidable castle built by the Radziwiłł family, one of the wealthiest magnate families in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The castle was besieged multiple times during the wars of the 17th century and was eventually destroyed in the Great Northern War. Today only fragments of the castle walls and earthworks remain. It's a quiet place for history enthusiasts.
