Deman

Deman is a small mountain village in the Yardımlı District of southern Azerbaijan, located in the Talysh Mountains near the Iranian border. It is a traditional rural settlement whose economy is based on small-scale agriculture, livestock grazing, and tea cultivation. The village is characteristic of the remote communities that dot the slopes of the Talysh range.

The climate is humid subtropical with warm summers and mild winters. The best time to visit is spring (April–May) or autumn (September–October).

Deman is a quiet, off-the-beaten-path village with no tourist infrastructure. It offers a glimpse into rural life in the Talysh highlands.

The nearest major airport is Lankaran International Airport (LN), about 80 km north-east.

By Car / Road

Deman is reached via local roads from Yardimli town, about 15 km further south into the mountains. A 4WD vehicle is recommended for the final approach.

The village is walkable. A vehicle is needed for reaching the main road.

• Tea terraces – small tea plantations on the hillsides.

• Hiking – the mountain trails around Deman offer excellent walking in a remote setting.

• Visit Yardimli – the district centre, 15 km north, with a market and museum.
