Yardımlı is a rayon in southeastern Azerbaijan, situated in the foothills of the Talysh Mountains near the Iranian border. The district is characterized by its lush, subtropical landscape — dense forests, tea plantations, and citrus groves cover the mountain slopes, creating a verdant environment quite different from the arid lowlands elsewhere in Azerbaijan. The administrative center is the town of Yardımlı, serving the surrounding rural communities. The district has a population of approximately 60,000.
The Talysh Mountains create a distinctive microclimate with high rainfall (1,200–1,400 mm annually), moderate temperatures, and year-round greenery. The forests are home to diverse flora and fauna, including endemic plant species. The district's agricultural economy centers on tea, citrus fruits, and hazelnuts. The area is one of Azerbaijan's most scenic and least-visited regions, offering genuine ecotourism opportunities.
Yardımlı is an emerging destination for nature lovers and those seeking an authentic Azerbaijani rural experience far from the tourist trails.
When is the best time to visit?
The best time to visit Yardımlı is during spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October), when temperatures are pleasant (18–25°C) and the landscape is green and active. Summers are warm and humid (25–30°C) with frequent rainfall. Winters are mild (5–10°C) with rain rather than snow in the lowlands. The subtropical climate makes Yardımlı one of the few places in Azerbaijan where tea is grown, and the harvest seasons offer opportunities to observe local agriculture.
