Avash

Avash is a small mountain village in the Yardımlı District of southern Azerbaijan, situated in the Talysh Mountains about 15 km south of Yardimli town. It lies in a forested valley typical of this part of the Lesser Caucasus range, near the border with Iran.

The village economy is based on agriculture, particularly tea and vegetable cultivation, and livestock grazing. The terraced hillsides around Avash are planted with tea bushes, a common sight across the Talysh region.

The climate is humid subtropical with warm summers and mild winters. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit.

Avash is a quiet village with basic infrastructure. It offers a peaceful setting for those exploring the Talysh Mountains.

The nearest major airport is Lankaran International Airport (LN), about 85 km north-east (1.5–2 hours by car).

Avash is located on the road from Yardimli heading south toward the Iranian border, about 15 km from the district centre. The road is paved but narrow.

The village is walkable. A 4WD vehicle is recommended for exploring deeper into the mountains.
