Arkivan

Arkivan is a village in Masallı District in southeastern Azerbaijan, located in the Talysh Mountain foothills about 10 km northwest of Masalli city. The village is known for its thermal and mineral water springs, which have supported a small spa and sanatorium industry since the Soviet era. The surrounding landscape combines tea terraces, forested slopes, and small farms.

The climate is subtropical humid: mild winters (2–8°C) and warm summers (22–30°C). The thermal springs operate year-round.

Lənkəran International Airport (LLK) is about 45 km south. A taxi costs 28–35 AZN.

By Train

Masalli station is about 12 km southeast, with trains from Baku.

By Car / Road

Arkivan is 10 km northwest of Masalli on a paved road. A taxi from Masalli costs 8–10 AZN.

Walkable. A vehicle is needed for trips further into the mountains.

• Thermal sanatorium — The village's Soviet-era spa complex, still in operation, offering mineral baths and treatments.

• Tea plantations — The hillsides around Arkivan are planted with tea.

• Thermal bathing — The sanatorium offers mineral water baths and hydrotherapy. Day visits available (8–15 AZN).

• Walking in the hills — Short trails from the village lead into the surrounding tea terraces and woodlands.

The sanatorium restaurant serves Azerbaijani meals (set-menu, 5–10 AZN). A village tea house provides tea and basic snacks.

Arkivan's mineral water is the specialty. Drink it at the sanatorium or buy it bottled.
