Biləsuvar, Azerbaijan

Why visit Bilasuvar?

Bilasuvar is a small town in southeastern Azerbaijan, serving as the administrative centre of the Biləsuvar District. Located near the Iranian border, approximately 180 km southeast of Bakı, it lies on the Mugan Plain, a fertile agricultural region that has been cultivated since antiquity. The town developed around the Soviet-era agro-industrial complex, and today it remains a centre for grain, cotton, and livestock production. The nearby border crossing with Iran adds a modest transit function.

The climate is semi-arid: hot summers (35–40 °C), mild winters (2–8 °C), and low rainfall concentrated in the cooler months.
