Bərdə, Azerbaijan
Why visit Lanbaran?
Lanbaran is a small village in the Bərdə district of central Azerbaijan, located about 15 km south of the district capital Barda. It is a quiet agricultural settlement in the Kura-Araz lowlands, surrounded by irrigated cotton fields, wheat farms, and orchards. The village has a small population and sees very few visitors, making it a place to experience rural Azerbaijani life at its most authentic.
The climate is continental: hot summers (often above 35 °C) and cool winters. The best time to visit is spring (April–May) or autumn (September–October).

What are the things to do?
Traditional Village Life — Lanbaran is a typical Azerbaijani agricultural village, with stone-and-brick houses, farmyards, and villagers tending fields and livestock.
Irrigation Canals — The network of Soviet-era irrigation channels that criss-cross the area is an interesting example of the large-scale water management that shaped the Kura-Araz lowlands.
Experience rural Azerbaijani hospitality — villagers are generally welcoming to visitors, and shared meals can sometimes be arranged through local guesthouses.
Cycle the quiet rural lanes that connect Lanbaran to neighbouring villages.
Use Lanbaran as a base for exploring the Barda archaeological zone and the mausoleum of Gonbek, 15 km north.
