Barda
Bərdə, Azerbaijan
Why visit Barda?
Barda is the historic capital of the Berde district and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Azerbaijan. Located in the central lowlands, about 280 km west of Bakı, it was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Caucasian Albania from the 1st to the 5th centuries AD. Later, during the medieval period, Barda flourished as a key Silk Road trading post. Today, it is a modest provincial town with a population of around 20,000, known for its archaeological heritage, tree-lined streets, and relaxed atmosphere.
The climate is continental: hot, dry summers reaching 35 °C, and cool winters with occasional frost. The best visiting periods are April–May and September–October.
