El Fener

Escaldes-Engordany, Andorra

Why visit El Fener?

El Fener is a central urban district and prominent commercial sector located in the parish of Escaldes-Engordany, Andorra. Historically, El Fener was a small independent village situated on the left bank of the Valira River, first mentioned in records dating back to 1176. It was known for its early industrial activity in wool weaving and a chapel dedicated to Saint Peregrine. However, in 1865, a catastrophic mountain landslide destroyed the original settlement.

Today, El Fener has been fully integrated into the bustling commercial heart of the Escaldes-Engordany and Andorra la Vella urban conurbation. It is defined by Avinguda del Fener and Fener Boulevard, serving as a lively hub for shopping, dining, and central parking. The area is highly modern, featuring contemporary commercial buildings, shopping malls, and high-density residential apartments.
