Esigodini

Matabeleland South, Zimbabwe

Why visit Esigodini?

Esigodini (formerly Essexvale) is the administrative centre of Umzingwane District in Matabeleland South, roughly 45 km southeast of Bulawayo. It is home to Esigodini Agricultural College, one of Zimbabwe's eight government agricultural colleges and the only one in the province, tracing back to a 1950s industrial school later split into a secondary school and the agricultural institute. Falcon College, a well-known independent boarding school founded in 1954 on the site of the former Bushtick Mine, lies about 10 km from the town at the foot of the Blue Hills, bordering the Quiet Waters Nature Reserve. The surrounding area is rolling farming country typical of southern Matabeleland.
