It is the main border crossing between Zimbabwe and Botswana on the Bulawayo–Francistown route. The town is named after the wild plum trees that grow in the area. By Plane

The nearest airport is Bulawayo (BUQ, 100 km east, 1.5 hours).

By Train

The railway line from Bulawayo to Botswana passes through Plumtree, but passenger services are suspended.

By Car / Road

Plumtree is 100 km west of Bulawayo on the A7 highway (1.5 hours). Minibus kombis from Bulawayo serve the route.

The town is walkable.
