Mashava is a mining town approximately 30 km south of Masvingo. The town developed around gold and asbestos mining, with the Mashava Mine being a significant employer. In recent years mining has declined, and the town has a quiet, semi-abandoned character. The surrounding hills are scenic and worth exploring.
