Vu Ban

Nam Định, Viet Nam

Why visit Vu Ban?

Vụ Bản is a rural district in north-central Nam Định province, located in the low-lying delta region of the Red River. The district capital is the town of Gôi. Vụ Bản is an important industrial centre within the province, hosting the Thành An and Bảo Minh Industrial Parks along National Highway 10. Agriculture — particularly rice cultivation — remains a major part of the local economy alongside the growing manufacturing sector.

The climate follows the typical Red River Delta pattern: hot and humid from May to October, cool and dry from November to March. The district's flat terrain is shaped by the Đào River which flows along its eastern edge.

Gôi town has several small restaurants and street food stalls serving phở, bún, and cơm (rice dishes). Bánh đa cua (crab noodle soup) is a regional favourite. Due to the industrial workforce, there are more eateries than in purely agricultural districts, with options for both Vietnamese staples and basic Western dishes.

Where to drink?

Green tea and Vietnamese coffee are available at small cafés in Gôi. Bia hơi is served at a few local bars. Bottled water is recommended.
