Why visit Dam Rong?

Đam Rông is a rural district in northern Lâm Đồng province, bordering Đắk Lắk province to the north. The district covers 892 km² and had a population of about 38,400 as of 2009. The district capital lies at Đam Rông town. Much of the Bidoup Núi Bà National Park extends into the district's territory.

The area is mountainous and forested, with a cool highland climate. The population includes a significant proportion of ethnic minority communities. The economy relies on agriculture (coffee, tea, vegetables) and forestry. The dry season from November to April offers the most pleasant travel conditions.

How do you get there?

By Plane

Lien Khuong Airport (DLI IATA) near Da Lat is about 80 km south (2 hr by road). From the airport, taxis and buses can reach Đam Rông.

By Car / Road

Đam Rông is accessible via National Road 27 from Da Lat (about 80 km, 2 hr) and from Buon Ma Thuot in Đắk Lắk province (about 100 km north). Buses from Da Lat's intercity station serve the district.

Motorbike is the most practical option for exploring the district. Xe om are available in the district centre. Local buses connect the communes.

  • Bidoup Núi Bà National Park (northern sector) — High-elevation forest with endemic conifers, rare orchids, and diverse wildlife. The park covers over 70,000 ha.
