Da Lat

Why visit Da Lat?
Da Lat (Đà Lạt), also spelled Dalat, sits in the South Central Highlands of Vietnam at an elevation of 1,500–2,000 m. During the colonial era it was the playground of the French, who built villas in the clear mountain air to escape the heat and humidity of the plains and coastal areas. The city spreads across a series of pine-covered hills centred on a small lake, with a man-made lake and higher peaks beyond — scenery quite different from the rest of Vietnam. Temperatures are pleasantly warm by day and cool at night, down to around 10°C.
Da Lat's fertile volcanic soil makes it one of Vietnam's premier agricultural areas, producing fruits, vegetables, tea, coffee, and flowers that don't grow in the lowlands. The city is surrounded by excellent mountain biking, hiking, and canyoning terrain, with hills of coffee and tea plantations. It is a favourite destination for weekend getaways, family trips, and honeymooners.
The dry season (November–April) offers the most pleasant weather, while the wetter months (May–October) bring afternoon downpours but lush green scenery. The city centre is compact and walkable, with most attractions within a few kilometres of Xuan Huong Lake.
