Da Huoai

Lâm Đồng, Viet Nam

Why visit Da Huoai?

Đạ Huoai is a rural district in southern Lâm Đồng province, bordering Đồng Nai and Bình Phước provinces. The name derives from the Mạ language, "Daa-huoaai," meaning "the stream of waiting," linked to the legend of hero Bri who became a big river after his death. The district capital is Ma Đa Guôi (Mdaa-guih, "a place of pause" in Mạ).

The district covers 490 km² with a population of about 166,000. The terrain transitions from the Central Highlands to the lowlands, with rich agricultural land producing coffee, tea, peppers, and tropical fruits. The climate is temperate in the hills and warmer in the valleys. The best time to visit is during the dry season, November to April.
