Why visit Tan Hong?

Tan Hong is a border district in northwestern Dong Thap province, sharing a border with Cambodia's Prey Veng province. The district is primarily agricultural, with rice farming and aquaculture dominating the local economy. As a border area, Tan Hong has a distinctive character — trade with Cambodia flows through local markets, and the population includes both ethnic Vietnamese and Khmer communities.

The climate follows the tropical monsoon pattern: dry from December to April, rainy from May to November. The flood season (August-November) transforms much of the district into flooded fields and waterways. The best time to visit is during the dry season.

The district centre is a small market town with basic services. Surrounding villages are connected by canals and rural roads, with many households living in traditional stilt houses along the waterways.
