Dak Song

Đắk Nông, Viet Nam

Why visit Dak Song?

Dak Song (Đắk Song) is a rural district in central Đắk Nông province, Central Highlands of Vietnam. The district covers an area of 808 km² and as of 2003 had a population of 41,774. The district capital lies at Đắk Song town. The name comes from the M'Nong language "Daàk-sơng," meaning "the stream of pine trees," due to the abundant pine forests that characterise the landscape.

Dak Song is known for its production of pine resin, which provides raw material for essential-oil processing industries in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding areas. The Vietnamese media has praised the district as an "ideal land" for cultivating elite pine trees. The climate follows the Central Highlands rainy season (April–October) and dry season (November–March).
