La Gi

Why visit La Gi?

La Gi (also known as Lagi) is a district-level town in southern Bình Thuận Province, about 60 km south of Phan Thiết on the coastal road. Its name derives from the Cham word ladik, meaning "swamp," reflecting the area's original landscape before the 1960s. It served as the provincial capital of Bình Tuy Province under the Republic of Vietnam and later became the administrative centre of Hàm Tân District before being established as its own town in 2005.

La Gi has a population of about 109,000 and covers 185 km². The town comprises 5 urban wards (Tân An, Phước Hội, Phước Lộc, Tân Thiện, Bình Tân) and 4 rural communes. Its economy is driven by fishing, agriculture, and a growing tourism sector drawn to its long beaches and relaxed coastal atmosphere. The climate follows the tropical monsoon pattern — dry from November to April and rainy from May to October.
