Viet Yen
Bắc Giang, Viet Nam
Why visit Viet Yen?
Việt Yên is a district-level town (thị xã) in Bắc Giang province, situated along the northern bank of the Cầu River in northern Vietnam. Located 45 km northeast of Hanoi and 12 km southwest of Bắc Giang city, the town covers 171 km² with a population of approximately 230,000. Upgraded to town status in early 2024, its administrative center is Bích Động ward.
The town stands out for its sharp contrast between contemporary industry and ancient Kinh Bắc culture. Along the main highways lie major electronics manufacturing parks such as Quang Châu, Vân Trung, Đình Trám, and Việt Hàn. Away from the industrial corridors, rural communes preserve centuries-old craft traditions and significant religious architecture, including the 11th-century Bổ Đà Pagoda and the historic riverside settlement of Thổ Hà.
Việt Yên experiences a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Winters (December to February) are dry and cool, with temperatures between 13°C and 20°C. Summers (May to August) bring high heat, heavy monsoon downpours, and temperatures ranging from 28°C to 36°C.
