Why visit Poytug'?
Poytug' is a small border town in the Andijon Region of Uzbekistan, located in the eastern Fergana Valley near the Kyrgyzstan border. Positioned roughly 80 kilometers east of Andijan city, the town sits at the foot of the Tien Shan foothills where the flat valley gives way to rising terrain. With a population of around 15,000, Poytug' has a distinctive character shaped by its proximity to Kyrgyzstan and the presence of Uyghur communities in the surrounding area. The town serves as a gateway to the mountain scenery of the eastern Fergana Valley.
The climate is continental with hot summers (35–40°C from June through August) and cold winters with snow in the surrounding foothills from December to February. Spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) offer the most comfortable conditions, with mild temperatures and the foothills providing scenic backdrops.
The town center is small, with a bazaar, mosque, and administrative buildings. The surrounding area transitions from irrigated valley farmland to rugged foothill terrain, offering a dramatic change in landscape from the flat Fergana Valley floor.
