Why visit Xo'jaobod?
Xo'jaobod is a small town in Andijon Region in eastern Uzbekistan, situated in the Fergana Valley near the border with Kyrgyzstan. The town serves as a quiet agricultural centre for the surrounding cotton and fruit-growing areas, with a predominantly Uzbek population and a relaxed pace of life far removed from the Silk Road tourist trail.
The climate is continental with hot summers (June–August) reaching 35°C and cold winters (December–February) where temperatures can drop below freezing. Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) are the most pleasant times to visit. The town is compact, centred around a small bazaar and the main thoroughfare, with residential neighbourhoods fanning out into the surrounding farmland.
