Qorasuv
Andijon, Uzbekistan
Why visit Qorasuv?
Qorasuv is a lively border town in the Andijon Region of Uzbekistan, located directly adjacent to the Kyrgyzstan border in the eastern Fergana Valley. Situated roughly 60 kilometers east of Andijan city, the town straddles the international boundary and is known for its vibrant cross-border market where Uzbek and Kyrgyz traders mingle. With a population of around 20,000, Qorasuv has a distinctive frontier atmosphere shaped by its position at the intersection of two countries and multiple cultures.
The climate is continental with hot summers (35–40°C from June through August) and cold winters with occasional snow from December to February. Spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) offer the most comfortable visiting conditions. The town sits at the edge of the Tien Shan foothills, giving it slightly more elevation and cooler temperatures than the valley floor to the west.
The town center is compact, organized around the border crossing and the bustling cross-border bazaar. The architecture blends Uzbek and Kyrgyz influences, and both Uzbek and Kyrgyz languages are commonly heard in the market. The surrounding landscape includes irrigated farmland, foothill terrain, and the border infrastructure.

What are the things to do?
Cross-Border Bazaar — The town's main attraction is its bustling market where Uzbek and Kyrgyz traders sell goods from both countries. The bazaar has a vibrant, chaotic energy unlike anything in the interior of Uzbekistan. Fresh produce, spices, textiles, electronics, and household goods from both nations are available.
Border Crossing — The border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan at Qorasuv is one of the most active in the Fergana Valley. Observing the flow of people and goods across the boundary is a fascinating cultural experience.
Foothill Scenery — The rising terrain east of Qorasuv provides scenic views of the Tien Shan foothills, offering a dramatic backdrop to the border town.
Qorasuv is primarily a transit and market town rather than a sightseeing destination. However, the cross-border market experience is unique in Uzbekistan, and the town serves as a convenient base for day trips into Kyrgyzstan (particularly to Osh) or for exploring the eastern foothills of the Fergana Valley.
