Moore has gained attention for its resilience in the face of severe weather, having been struck by significant tornadoes in 1999, 2003, and 2013. By Plane
Will Rogers World Airport (OKC) is approximately 15 miles north. The city is easily accessible from the airport via I-35 South. Rental cars are recommended.
By Car / Road
Moore is located just south of Oklahoma City on Interstate 35. From OKC, take I-35 South approximately 15 miles. From Dallas/Fort Worth, take I-35 North approximately 200 miles. The city is also accessible via US-62 and other state highways.
A personal vehicle is the primary mode of transportation in Moore. The city is car-dependent, with commercial areas spread along the I-35 corridor. Ride-hailing services such as Uber and Lyft operate in the area. Walking is practical in some commercial districts but not throughout the city.
What are the things to do?
Westmoore High School — While not a tourist attraction per se, the school's recovery from the 2013 tornado and the community's resilience have been widely covered.
Moore Parks System — The city maintains several parks including Buck Thomas Park and Southeast Park, offering green spaces and recreation.
Oklahoma City National Memorial (15 miles north) — While technically in Oklahoma City, it is a short drive from Moore and well worth a visit.

Moore Golf and Recreation — The city has several golf courses and recreation facilities.
Oklahoma City attractions — Moore's proximity to OKC provides easy access to the Oklahoma City Zoo, Science Museum Oklahoma, and Bricktown entertainment district.
