Bath

Why visit Bath?
Bath is a historic shipbuilding city on the Kennebec River in the Mid Coast region of Maine. For over two centuries, Bath has been a center for shipbuilding and continues to build ships at Bath Iron Works, one of the largest employers in the state. The city's rich maritime heritage is celebrated at the Maine Maritime Museum and throughout its well-preserved downtown, which features Federal and Greek Revival architecture along its main streets.
The city experiences four distinct seasons. Summers are pleasant with temperatures in the 70s°F, ideal for exploring the waterfront and nearby coastal attractions. Winters are cold but milder than inland Maine due to the moderating influence of the Atlantic Ocean. Fall foliage in the surrounding area peaks in late September to early October.
Bath sits at the head of navigation on the Kennebec River, about 12 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. The city serves as a gateway to the Mid Coast region, with easy access to Boothbay Harbor (10 miles south), Wiscasset (10 miles north), and Brunswick (15 miles southwest). Its walkable downtown, historic architecture, and maritime character make it an appealing stop for travelers exploring the Maine coast.
