About Stirling

Stirling is the historic gateway between the Lowlands and Highlands, crowned by its magnificent castle perched on a volcanic crag. The city played a pivotal role in Scotland's Wars of Independence — William Wallace's victory at Stirling Bridge (1297) and Robert the Bruce's at Bannockburn (1314) are commemorated at the National Wallace Monument and Bannockburn Heritage Centre.

The old town is compact and walkable, with cobbled streets, historic buildings, and views in every direction. Stirling University and modern shopping add a lively, youthful energy.
