Why visit Masindi?
Masindi is a historic town in western Uganda, located approximately 200 km north-west of Kampala. It serves as the main gateway to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's largest and most visited national park. The town has a relaxed, tropical atmosphere with wide streets and colonial-era buildings. Masindi was an important colonial administrative centre and still retains some of its old-world charm.
The Banyoro people are the dominant ethnic group, and Runyoro is the local language alongside English.
