Muğla is the capital city of Muğla Province in southwestern Turkey, located 20 km inland from the coast. With a population of around 65,000, it is a historic city known for its traditional Turkish architecture, with whitewashed stone houses, ornate chimneys, and a charming old town. Unlike the busy coastal resorts of the province, Muğla city has a more authentic, laid-back atmosphere.
The climate is Mediterranean with hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. Spring and autumn are ideal for visiting. The old town is clustered around the historic square and sprawling up the hillside.

Dalaman Airport (DLM, 40 km southwest) serves international and domestic flights. Havaş shuttles and taxis connect to Muğla (40 min).

Muğla's otogar has connections to İzmir (3.5 hr), Antalya (4 hr), and Istanbul (12 hr).
The old town is very walkable. Dolmuş connect to surrounding villages and coastal resorts.
