Foca

İzmir, Turkey

About Foca

Foca is a charming coastal town on the Foça Peninsula in western Izmir Province. It was the ancient Phocaea, a major Ionian Greek city known for its seafaring colonies including Marseille. Today it is a relaxed seaside town with a well-preserved old quarter of stone houses, a Genoese castle, and a small harbour. Foça is also known for the Mediterranean monk seals (fok) that inhabit the nearby coast.
