Alacakaya

Alacakaya is a small district town in eastern Elazığ Province, situated in a mountainous area east of the Murat River. It is a quiet rural settlement with a modest population, primarily serving as an administrative centre for surrounding villages. Agriculture and livestock grazing are the main economic activities, and the town has a traditional Anatolian character with simple stone and concrete buildings. The name Alacakaya means "multicoloured rock" in Turkish, likely referring to the local geology.
