How do you get there?

By Plane

Piarco International Airport (POS) is the nearest airport, approximately 45 km to the northeast. A taxi or rental car is needed to reach Tabaquite, as public transport is very limited. The drive takes approximately 50–60 minutes via the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway and then east through Couva.

By Car / Road

Tabaquite is reached by heading east from Couva on the Tabaquite Road. The journey is approximately 15–20 km from Couva and takes 25–35 minutes on winding two-lane roads through hilly terrain. A vehicle with good ground clearance is advisable, especially during the wet season when roads can deteriorate. Public transport to Tabaquite is infrequent; a hired taxi or private vehicle is strongly recommended.

The village itself is small and walkable. There is no formal public transport within Tabaquite. A private vehicle or hired taxi is necessary for exploring the surrounding area and for return trips to Couva.

Where to eat?

Food options in Tabaquite are very limited. Small local shops may sell basic prepared food. Most visitors bring their own food or eat in Couva before or after visiting.

Where to drink?

A rum shop or two in the village serve local rum and beer. There are no bars or cafés of note.

There are a few small shops in the village selling basic provisions. For any significant shopping, Couva (25 minutes west) is the nearest commercial centre.
