Rusovce
Bratislavský kraj, Slovakia
Why visit Rusovce?
Rusovce is a historic district on the southern edge of Bratislava, situated on the Danube River right at the Hungarian border. With around 3,000 residents, it was originally a separate village and is now part of the capital's urban area. Rusovce is famous for two significant historical attractions: the Roman military camp of Gerulata and the beautiful Rusovce Manor House.
Gerulata was a Roman auxiliary fort on the Danubian Limes (the Roman frontier), established in the 2nd century AD. The excavated remains include fortification walls, a Roman bath complex, and a reconstructed section of the fortifications. The neo-Gothic Rusovce Manor House, set in a large English park, is another architectural highlight.
