Dindefelo

Kédougou, Senegal

Why visit Dindefelo?

Dindéfello (also spelled Dindefelo) is a village in southeastern Senegal's Kédougou Region, close to the Guinean border, and gives its name to the Fula–Dindéfello area of the "Bassari Country: Bassari, Fula and Bedik Cultural Landscapes" UNESCO World Heritage site. The village is best known for the nearby Dindefelo Falls, at roughly 100 metres among the tallest waterfalls in Senegal, which drops into a forested pool at the base. The falls sit within a community nature reserve covering about 13,000 hectares that protects the last known population of chimpanzees in Senegal, alongside rich birdlife, making the area a focus of Senegal's small ecotourism sector.
