Fatick

Fatick is a region in west-central Senegal, in the Sine-Saloum area, bordering the Saloum Delta. It was the historic heartland of the Serer Kingdom of Sine, whose last pre-colonial capital, Diakhao, lies within the region alongside the royal tombs of its kings. The Saloum Delta, with its mangrove channels and shell islands, forms part of a UNESCO biosphere reserve along the region's coast.

Senegal's Sahelian climate brings a hot dry season and a rainy season roughly from June to October, with the cooler, drier months (November–May) generally the most comfortable for travel.

Roads connect Fatick town to Kaolack and Mbour. Pirogues (traditional wooden boats) are used for transport within the Saloum Delta's channels and islands.
