Karang
Fatick, Senegal
Why visit Karang?
Karang is a town in Senegal's Fatick region, close to the border with The Gambia, with roughly 23,000 inhabitants. It is the main Senegalese exit/entry point on the Dakar–Banjul road route, facing the Gambian border town of Amdallai across the crossing. The town's economy centres on cross-border trade and transit traffic, and it has close social ties with communities on the Gambian side. A bridge — the Nelson Mandela Bridge, opened in 2022 — links Karang across the Saloum inlet to Foundiougne, improving trade and passenger links along the delta.
