Belle Vue
Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia
Why visit Belle Vue?
Belle Vue is a hillside settlement in the Vieux Fort district of Saint Lucia, situated on the slopes above the flat southern plain. The name means "Beautiful View" in French, and the village lives up to it — the elevated position offers panoramic views over the southern coast, the Caribbean Sea, and on clear days, the distant Pitons to the north-west. With a population of a few hundred, Belle Vue is a quiet agricultural community.
The terrain is hilly and lush, with banana, cocoa, and root-crop cultivation on the lower slopes and secondary forest higher up. The air is cooler and breezier than on the flat coastal plain, and the scenery is expansive. The village consists of scattered houses connected by narrow lanes, with a church and a few small shops forming the community centre.
Belle Vue has no tourist infrastructure. Its appeal is for travellers seeking elevated views, rural tranquillity, and an authentic agricultural experience within easy reach of Vieux Fort's services.
