Why visit?

Neamț County lies in the historical Moldavia region of northeastern Romania, known for its concentration of Orthodox monasteries and mountain scenery. Agapia Monastery, one of Romania's most important nunneries, was built between 1641 and 1643 and is renowned for interior frescoes painted in 1858 by Nicolae Grigorescu, a founder of modern Romanian painting. Ceahlău Natural Park, centred on the Ceahlău massif, offers marked hiking routes from trailheads including Izvorul Muntelui and Durău.
