Why visit?

Constanța County covers Romania's Black Sea coast, home to the country's main seaside resorts. Constanța city, an ancient port with Roman-era ruins, is anchored by its landmark Casino building, designed in French style by architect Daniel Renard. North of the city, Mamaia is the largest and busiest beach resort, on a strip of land between the sea and Lake Siutghiol; at the southern end near the Bulgarian border, Vama Veche is known instead for its long-running bohemian, counter-culture beach atmosphere rather than resort infrastructure.

When is the best time to visit?

The Black Sea coast is busiest and warmest from June through August; late spring and early autumn are quieter with milder weather.
