Why visit Bauang?

Bauang is a first-class municipality on the coast of La Union, about 15 minutes south of San Fernando. It is known for its long stretch of grey-sand beach lined with resorts and for the Bauang beach strip — a popular weekend getaway for families from Baguio and Manila. Batang is also famous for its giant longganisa (Bauang longganisa) and the annual Longganisa Festival.

How do you get there?

Bauang is on the MacArthur Highway, served by buses from Manila (5 hours) and San Fernando (15 min). By car, take the TPLEX exit to Bauang.

Tricycles serve the town proper and the beach strip.

What are the things to do?

  • Bauang Beach — A 7-km stretch of grey-sand beach. The central portion is free and public; resort areas have their own beachfront.

  • Bauang Church (St. Peter and Paul Parish) — A Spanish-era church with a distinctive coral-stone façade.

  • Swim at Bauang Beach — The waters are generally calm, good for swimming.

  • Longganisa Festival (April) — A street-dancing festival celebrating the town's famous sausage.

  • Paragliding over Bauang — Tandem flights available from the cliffside in Barangay Central East (₱2,500–3,500 per person).
