Buena Vista

Caazapá, Paraguay

Why visit Buena Vista?

Buena Vista, in southeastern Caazapá department, began as a settlement called "Mburika Potrero," a company dependent on the district of San Juan Nepomuceno; the first documented settlers date to the first decade of the 20th century, tied to the Duarte and Cuevas families' Mburika Potrero property. In 1916, Father Juan Guillermo Díaz renamed the settlement "Buena Vista" ("good view") and blessed a new oratory dedicated to San Vicente Ferrer. It was elevated to district status, separating from San Juan Nepomuceno, on June 23, 1955 by Decree Law No. 260. The district has a population of roughly 6,000.
